There was candy floss and balloons as a Holybourne care home got into a party spirit and enjoyed their annual Summer Fun Extravaganza.
Staff and residents at The Lawn recently welcomed friends, family, carers and the community for a “splendid and enjoyable day” of activities and merriment.
There was music and dancing at the event organised by the Friends of the Elderly along with a host of games and activities with a funfair theme.
“We tried to make sure the day had a fair and festival atmosphere,” said Emma Cranstone, activities co-ordinator at the London Road home.
“The residents enjoyed the day so much. They totally loved the thrill of the lively games and winning playful prizes.”
The day was bursting with fun-packed games and competitions with a performance by The Knickerbocker Glory Appalachian Dancers being a highlight.
The Cajun Boogaloo trio also got everyone up and dancing with their mix of country, old time, bluegrass and folk rock music.
There were friendly battles for prizes in the Name the Bear competition while the Soak The Manager activity was popular along with the tombola and raffle.
“The day was brilliant – my family came and they said it was a great day that they enjoyed it immensely,” said resident, Alan Bourne.
“The best and funniest bit for me was Soak The Management. I threw wet sponges at Emma, she is such a good sport, she was very brave.
“Never have I met such a hard-working woman in my life, she is amazing.”
