A Holybourne school has got the write stuff having finished the summer term with two impressive awards.

Treloar School has completed a double they received “extraordinary” awards for literacy and physical education just a few days apart.

The first arrived on July 7 when the school was awarded the Diversity and Inclusion Award by the UKLA for its literacy curriculum.

There was more exciting news from the Association for Physical Education a few days later as the school was awarded the Quality Mark with Distinction.

The school received the accolade for “demonstrating outstanding commitment to improvement in PE, school sport and physical activity.”

The awards are a validation of the hard work and dedication that has gone into creating and developing personalised and bespoke curriculums which “enable Treloar’s students to achieve their best and meet their full capabilities.”

“These awards provide that students’ needs, progress and well-being are at the heart of everything the school does,” said a spokesperson for Treloar’s.

“The UKLA award is testament to the strong collaboration between Treloar’s Speech and Language Therapy Department and the Education team.”

The school’s individualised programmes and multi-disciplinary approach to PE provision which allowed students to develop and discover interests was called “quite remarkable” by Sue Wilkinson MBE, chief executive officer of the AfPE.

* In a previous edition of the Herald we wrongly stated students from both the Holybourne and Froyle sites were involved in a hustings at Treloar’s. Since there are no students at the latter, this was incorrect, and we apologise.
