Badshot Lea produced an impressive performance to beat Southern League Premier South outfit Chertsey Town 4-1 in a pre-season friendly at Westfield Lane.

The home side took the lead in the 30th minute when a trialist headed home from close range.

The Baggies doubled their advantage on 50 minutes when a flowing move was well finished by another trialist, who smashed his finish through the Chertsey keeper’s legs.

The visitors had a golden chance to pull a goal back four minutes later when they won a penalty, but the spot kick was dragged well wide of Baggies keeper Harry Cawdron’s goal.

Badshot Lea scored their third of the evening in the 69th minute when a trialist fired a superb left-foot shot into the top left-hand corner of the Chertsey goal.

The hosts made it 4-0 on 86 minutes with a near carbon copy of the third goal thanks to an excellent left-foot shot into the left-hand corner of the goal.

Baggies keeper Cawdron lost his clean sheet in stoppage time, when Chertsey pulled a goal back.

Next up for the Baggies is a pre-season friendly away at Southern League Division One South outfit Bashley on Saturday, July 20 (3pm).
