A day of roar-some entertainment will await intrepid young visitors who venture to Alton Public Gardens from 11am this Saturday.

The Alton Lions Club will conjure up the sights and sounds of the jungle with their ‘Safari in the Park’ with highlights including a treasure trail, inflatables, petting farm and fancy dress competition.

Visitors can expect everything from face painting and a penalty shoot-out to a Punch and Judy show with games, a magic show and live music from Tripwire also planned.

Stalls, food and drink will be available and there’s a chance to get lucky with a Lions bucket raffle featuring many great prizes.

Proceeds from the event will support the Kings Arms youth centre while the Alton WI and Explorer Scouts will provide tea and a barbecue.

Holybourne Youth Theatre will perform songs from the Wizard of Oz at 11.30am with an official opening at midday, free entry.
