SKI ACE Sophia Fielding has raced to a podium finish at the British Alpine Children’s Championships in Tignes, France.
Sophia, 11, a Year 7 pupil at All Hallows School in Farnham, took part in the under-12 section, competing against the top skiers in the country and British skiers living abroad.
In the giant slalom she finished on the podium in third and also had a fourth place finish in the slalom.
Sophia skis with the Aldershot Ski Race Club at the town’s outdoor ski slope in Aldershot.
Her dad Nick said: “Sophia has been skiing since she was about three on family holidays and has always enjoyed it, and has been with the ski club for about four years.
“We went out there just to compete, without any expectations – at this age it’s all about enjoying yourself. It was great fun watching her race against about 30 others.
“She is very competitive naturally – she plays hockey for Aldershot & Farnham, as well as organising lots of sports and activities which she loves, and her school have been very supportive of her.”
