Luke Griffiths – a product of Farnham Cricket Club’s youth academy – made his Test debut for England under-19s in the second match in the Youth Ashes series against Australia.
This follows a successful breakthrough summer for Griffiths, who also made his Surrey first-team debut – playing five List A games in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
Griffiths notably hit a four from the last ball of the match against Essex to seal a two-wicket win. Griffiths also represented England under-19s’ one-day side in August.
A talented quick bowler and powerful middle-order batter, Griffiths represented Farnham Cricket Club throughout his youth in age group cricket and made his first team debut in 2020 before becoming a regular in the side from 2021.
Farnham chairman Jamie Strachan said: “Luke is an extraordinary talent and we have been delighted to see the progress he has made this year for Surrey and England under-19s, making important contributions with bat and ball.
“We wish him well for the remainder of the 2023 season and into next year as he continues to progress in professional cricket and beyond.”
