A motorcyclist was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following an accident on a notorious road near Alton last weekend.
Hampshire Police have launched an investigation following the accident on the A339 south of the Bentworth crossroads just after 2pm on Sunday, June 9.
They are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage after a blue Suzuki motorbike left the road and collided with a tree between the crossroads and the Gravel Lane junction.
The rider – a man in his 20s from Basingstoke – was taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment after suffering life-threatening injuries.
Police have reported he was part of a group of seven motorcyclists travelling south along the A339 towards Alton.
The section of the A339 around Lasham was closed for several hours following the crash to allow police investigations.
“We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision itself or this group prior to the collision,” said a spokesperson for Hampshire Police.
The spokesperson added: “We would particularly like to speak to anyone with relevant dash cam footage.”
Witnesses or anyone with information is urged to call 101 quoting crime reference number 44240242113 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

While most of the A339 between Alton and Basingstoke has a 50mph speed limit, with some 60mph and 40mph sections, the road is often a popular haunt of motorcyclists due to its combination of twists and long straight sections.
