A former MP who provided stanch support for victims of the Post Office scandal is to open a showpiece event in Shalden next Sunday.

Lord Arbuthnot of Edrom will open the Shalden Fete at 2pm with the event in the grounds of Shalden Park House including a dog show, classic car display and barbecue.

Adults can grab a glass of Pimms and peruse the plant, cake and books stalls or try their luck at a bottle tombola.

There will also be an auction of promises with prizes including a trip for two on Hampshire lanes in an open top Bentley.

Youngsters can try their hand at traditional games like splat the rat while more than 100 teddy bears will be up for grabs at the teddy bear and coconut shy.

Further highlights will include plate smashing, a toy stall and a bouncy castle with entry £1 for adults and free for children.
