July saw some significant activity in the local commercial property market, with one deal in particular highlighting the positive impact the sector can have on local residents.

In Farnham, hospice care charity Phyllis Tuckwell has secured the letting of a 20,112 sq ft office property, close to the town centre, on a new two-year lease at a peppercorn rent from Questrum Holdings Ltd. 

The two-storey, air-conditioned property is located opposite the Memorial Hall and Farnham Town Football Club’s ground on Crosby Way.

Headway House will be used by the charity’s community teams and support staff while its new state-of-the-art hospice is being built on Waverley Lane.

Peter Foxton, director of income generation at Phyllis Tuckwell, said: “Our existing building has served us well but is dated, poorly laid out and costly to run. 

“The new hospice will transform the way in which we work, helping us to care for 3,000 people a year by 2040.”

Curchod & Co’s Nick Reeve said: “While much-needed, the rebuilding of the existing Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice will also prove challenging for the charity as it is essential its vital work within the community continues around the clock.

“The generous terms agreed by Questrum Holdings will allow Phyllis Tuckwell to save substantial sums of money that can be used elsewhere, including towards the cost of the rebuilding of the existing hospice.”
