A man in his 90s and a woman in her 80s died in a house fire in Alton during the early hours of Monday.

Firefighters and police attended the blaze in Heron Close at 4am but the occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. Their next of kin have been informed.

Hampshire Constabulary and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service are investigating the cause of the fire.
