The good times are here to stay at a “friendly and inclusive” school in Alton after showing its class to Ofsted inspectors.
Alton Infant School has retained its ‘Good’ overall grade with keen pupils benefiting from enriching experiences and activities, big ideas and warm relationships.
Leader expectations for the school’s hard-working “polite and helpful” pupils are high with staff always on hand for support.
Pupils enjoy their time and achieve well with the “well managed” school being called “wonderfully nurturing” by an appreciative parent who spoke to inspectors.
Youngsters also spoke enthusiastically about trips to Wisley Gardens and Marwell Zoo and have a green ethos as they recycle and compost food waste into the school’s garden.
Inspectors also noted that children get off to a “great start” in early years and benefit from a vocabulary-rich setting and planning environment which supports their learning.
The report is not perfect as leaders have acknowledged there is “more work to do” for a small number of subjects beyond English and Mathematics.
Some key knowledge is not always explicitly identified and taught, while inspectors also noted that some low-level behaviour issues are not always addressed quickly enough.
But they’re minor blemishes on an otherwise decent report card with compliers praising the “highly accepting” pupils and team at the well led and managed school.
Alton Infants has begun a programme of morning tours for parents whose children start school in September 2025 while an open evening will take place on Thursday, November 14, call 01420 83857 for more details.
