Angela has actively been supporting Ukrainians herself and hosted Anna Junge for a couple of days in July, before Anna’s onward journey to Glasgow. Dana Palieshko lived in Grayswood with Angela from August to October, and Juliya Savulak will arrive in mid-January and stay with Angela.
Angela’s experiences have inspired her appeal.
“Having close contact to their families back in Ukraine has raised my awareness of their acute need this winter,” she said.
“So I have decided to launch a campaign in support of a national appeal which is transporting medical supplies into Ukraine.
“We are also concerned about the winter, rising fuel and the cost of living.
“Fortunately, pensioners have been given a very generous winter fuel payment, which many will need.
“However, there are plenty of pensioners who could perhaps afford to share this allowance by donating ten per cent to the appeal being made by Circle Health, working with the Red Cross to get medical supplies into Ukraine.”
