Alton’s Christmas Lights Switch-On and Festive Market will be held on November 22 from 3pm to 7pm.

An Alton Town Council spokesperson said: “Alton Town Council warmly invites residents and visitors to join us for a magical start to the Christmas season.

“Enjoy an evening filled with twinkling lights, seasonal treats and Christmas entertainment, which will be perfect for all ages.”

The lights will be switched on outside the Assembly Rooms at 5pm and in Market Square at 5.30pm.

Alton will shine with the same beloved festive lights and trees as in previous years, bringing a traditional warmth and glow.

Families can visit Father Christmas free at 16 Market Square from 3.30pm to 7pm. No registration is required.

The enchanting Ice Queen will bring a touch of winter magic to the High Street. She will be appearing from 4pm to 4.30pm, 5pm to 5.30pm and 6.30pm to 7pm.

Visitors can meet Olaf and Elsa in the Upper Room at the Assembly Rooms.

The Christmas market will feature stalls in the Assembly Rooms, High Street, Cross and Pillory Lane, and Market Square, offering unique gifts, toys, a charity tombola, games, crafts and delicious food.

High Street will feature a funfair with exciting rides for younger children, while older children can enjoy larger rides from Marks & Spencer to Cross and Pillory Lane.

There will be Christmas music, choirs and festive performances in the Assembly Rooms, High Street and Market Square, creating the perfect Christmas ambience for all.
