Beech village celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with two big events.
A fizz and chips night last Thursday (June 2) saw 90 people enjoy the Mossley & Bow fish and chip wagon, sparkling wine from Hattingley Valley, Jubilee Ale from the Triple fff brewery and Buckingham Palace gin.
Jubilee-themed puddings were entered in the Great Beech Jubilee Bake-Off judged by Jane Freeman-Hunt and Caleb Hallett. They declared Carol Kemp’s Union Jack creation, topped with strawberries and blueberries, the winner based on appearance, Jubilee relevance and taste. The crowd enjoyed the puddings before watching the national beacon lighting on a big screen.
On Sunday 170 people attended The Big Lunch on the green, with music from singer Anna and the Farnham Big Band. Volunteers provided strawberries and cream, cream teas, Pimm’s, beer, wine, Jubilee cake and cupcakes.
