A mum from Medstead who runs a programme of free computer training for civil servants and provides vital decision-making data for the prime minister has been made a CBE in the New Year Honours List for services to technology and analysis.
Dr Laura Dawson, 44, who is married with three children, is the director of 10DS, the data science and analytics team in Downing Street, and joint chief analyst for the cabinet office.
She said: “I haven’t had a letter yet about going to the palace but it should be in the summer.
“It’s very exciting. My mother’s absolutely thrilled, buying hats and everything.
“It genuinely was a huge surprise.”
