ALTON Rugby Club’s under-sevens side returned home victorious after triumphing at two festivals on the same day!
Nine of boys attended the London Irish St Patrick’s Festival at Reading University where the squad was unbeaten in their four games, scoring an aggregate 32 points to become this year’s cup winners.
Their win meant they had the privilege of being part of the Guard of Honour at the start of the London Irish v Gloucester Aviva Premiership match at the Madjeski Stadium.
Meanwhile, over in Petersfield, a second squad of 12 boys played four closely-fought games in the pool stages, meeting Winchester under-sevens in the final which resulted in a draw.
The Alton boys were declared the Hampshire Cup winners based on their total score for day. “It was a fantastic and well rewarded effort for all the boys,” said a club spokesman.
