TALENTED Alton College art student Imogen Horrocks has scaled the heights for a TV advert.
Imogen, 18, can be seen tackling a climbing wall for an advert featuring Honda’s new Civic car. The former Bohunt School, Liphook, pupil is part of the British youth bouldering team and was chosen after an audition.
She has been bouldering, a competitive form of rock climbing that is performed without the use of ropes or harnesses, for about six years and started out at Alton Sports Centre.
She then advanced to climbing at White Spider Climbing in Tolworth where she was coached until last year.
White Spider Climbing subsequently became Imogen’s sponsor.
Imogen is part of the GB team and has competed on the national and international stage. She competes in all of the three main disciplines – bouldering (climbing without ropes), lead climbing (with ropes) and speed – and one day hopes to represent her country at the Olympics.
After being told of her chance to feature in the Honda ad, she attended the audition in which she had to climb to demonstrate all her impressive skills and advocate the idea of the advert to challenge yourself and push yourself to the limit.
Once she had been chosen she was flown out to Romania for a week’s filming, although the car segment was actually filmed in Madrid.
After college, Imogen is planning to take a gap year and is concentrating on her climbing and undertaking coaching qualifications. And she is in talks with Honda about the use of a Civic to travel the world.
