Petersfield secured fifth place in Regional Two South Central with a 41-17 win at North Dorset.
From the kick off Petersfield showed their intent, and the visitors took the lead through a Joe Knowles penalty.
Petersfield’s first try arrived when Tom Land sprinted through on an acute angle to dot down under the crossbar. Knowles added the conversion.
The second try arrived when prop Dan Sargent grounded the ball over the line. Knowles added the extras.
Petersfield were penalised for holding on, which handed over possession. North Dorset kicked to the corner and won their lineout. The hosts built up some phases and broke through Field’s defence to dot down.
Charlie Muir was next to score after Liam Perkins broke from a maul, ball in hand and opened up a series of passes that all stuck, until Muir joined the line from fullback and ran down the right to dot down.
Knowles was unsuccessful with the conversion, and with half-time called Field led 22-7.
During this period of play Petersfield’s Karter Whittock had received a yellow card.
After the restart Perkins pouched the ball 30 metres from the try line and sold a magnificent dummy pass which opened the defence for an unopposed gallop to touch down under the posts for the bonus point try.
North Dorset opened their second-half account with a scrambled try in the right corner which was unconverted.
With Whittock restored left winger Miles Sampson was yellow carded for not releasing, and North Dorset then scored their third try.
Petersfield’s George Davis had a try disallowed, and his comments earned him a yellow card.
Muir gave a pass to right winger Eddie Matthews who crossed the line for Field’s fifth try.
Land scored the final try on the final whistle to seal Field’s win.
