Farnham Town slipped to a 4-1 defeat against Southern League Premier South outfit Bracknell Town in an entertaining pre-season friendly at The Memorial Ground.
The visitors took the lead in the ninth minute when Great Evans’ effort took a deflection and wrongfooted Farnham keeper Marcin Brzozowski.
Town responded well to falling behind and nearly equalised on 12 minutes when Darryl Sanders flashed a volley just over the bar. The hosts went close again three minutes later when Lewis Flatman’s free kick hit the post and the loose ball was hacked clear by Bracknell.
The equaliser arrived in the 18th minute when a corner caused chaos in the Bracknell box and Ryan Kinnane riffled home the loose ball into the roof of the net from close range.
Farnham nearly took the lead on 38 minutes when a free-flowing move ended with Duarte Martins laying the ball back to Flatman, but Flatman’s effort was superbly tipped around the post by Bracknell keeper Michael Eacott.
The hosts started the second half brightly and nearly went ahead when substitute Shay Brennan was through one-on-one with Eacott, but the visiting keeper claimed the ball from Brennan.
Brennan went close again a minute later when his right-foot shot was well tipped around the post by Eacott.
Bracknell regained the lead on 51 minutes when Max Herbert’s ball found Elliot Legg, who curled his right-foot finish into the bottom right-hand corner.
Farnham nearly got back on level terms in the 65th minute, but substitute Joel Rollinson’s effort was well tipped around the post by Eacott.
The visitors scored their third of the evening on 67 minutes when a trialist was through one-on-one with Brzozowski and confidently riffled his finish into the bottom right-hand corner.
Farnham looked for a way back into the game, and Brennan curled his effort just wide in the 70th minute.
The visitors then made it 4-1 on 75 minutes when Dylan Ive curled a superb free kick in off the near post.
Next up for Farnham is a trip to Southern Counties East League Premier Division outfit Tunbridge Wells in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup on Saturday (3pm).
