Farnham Town extended their unbeaten league run to 57 games with a 1-1 draw at home to Southall in the Isthmian League South Central Division on Saturday.

The visitors took the lead in the 12th minute through Jordi Ebanda’s goal.

Southall were then reduced to ten men on 29 minutes when Jordan Ajanlekoka denied a clear goalscoring opportunity.

The home side made their numerical advantage count and equalised in the 67th minute when Great Evans buried the ball into the bottom corner to score his first goal for the club.

Farnham pushed for a winner, but ultimately had to settle for a share of the spoils.

The draw meant Farnham dropped points for the first time in the league this season after winning their opening eight games.

Saturday’s draw followed a 3-1 win at Tooting & Mitcham United in the first round of the Surrey Senior Cup last Tuesday night (October 8).

Farnham took the lead in the third minute when Shay Brennan’s cross was diverted into his own net by Tooting’s Habeeb Adeboju.

Town doubled their advantage on 27 minutes when Brennan scored against his former club.

Tooting pulled a goal back in the 49th minute through Tariq Mahmoud, but Owen Dean sealed Farnham’s place in the next round when he found the bottom corner on 88 minutes to make it 3-1.

Alton slipped to a 1-0 defeat at home to AFC Whyteleafe in the Combined Counties Premier Division South on Saturday.

Daniel Bennett’s 80th-minute goal was enough to give the visitors the three points at Anstey Park Enclosure.

Alton coach Matt Evans said: “It was a tight game against a team who are up near the top of the league.

“We are competing well but are looking to put some more points on the board.”
