Alton skipper Andy Postles elected to field first. Tom Andrews (two for 18) dismissed both openers to reduce the visitors to 17 for two.
Will Fisher and Alex Spearing added 88 for the third wicket before Spearing was trapped in front for 39 trying to sweep the spin of Kartik Tank. Tank (three for 33) took two more quick wickets as Compton slipped to 117 for five.
Fisher reached his half-century before Wilf Bridger (three for 45) removed him for 63 to leave Compton on 149 for six. Arul Appavoo (two for 26) took two late wickets as the visitors were bowled out for 162 in the 44th over.
Alton were confident of chasing their target, but things did not go to plan as they slipped to 51 for four. The left-arm spin of Will Fisher did the damage as he picked up four quick wickets, with only Hale making an impact as he made 22.
Skipper Postles was joined by Joey Paul as the pair looked to repair the damage. Postles, who looked in fine form, was stumped for 34 off 30 balls to leave Alton on 88 for five. When Crane was caught at slip Alton were 98 for six and were 65 runs short of their target.
Andrews and Paul added a vital 33 before Andrews edged behind for 14. Paul was then caught for 28 with the Brewers still 25 shy of their target. Bridger added a vital 14 runs but was trapped in front with five runs required. Appavoo (nine not out) and Tank saw Alton home in the 40th over.
