History has repeated itself as a team from Eton has been rifled by Farnham Heath End School in a national competition.
Vienna is calling for the past masters of FHES after their Varsity team claimed another International History Bowl of London title.
Their reward is a trip to the Austrian capital where they will fly the flag for Britain in the International History Bee and Bowl.
But they need a hand with the school launching a £4,000 fundraising campaign to help with the costs of the three-night trip.
The school will compete in the European Division after Amelie Read, Hayden Burton and Gethyn Jones secured the title after snatching victory against their older counterparts from Eton in Croydon. They beat five different teams from the Berkshire school to win the Junior Varsity title, with their previous two successes being in the Middle School category.

Like previous years, FHES was the only state school to enter but they’re clearly the team to beat.
The school’s head of history, Jonathan Boulton, is rightly proud of the team with the aforementioned trio being the ever-present and hard to beat core.
He said: “Lots of public schools enter team and there’s five from Eton, alone – I don’t know any state schools that enter it.
“Some of the parents couldn’t believe it. They were saying, Farnham? What is this school?”
The school has strength in numbers as FHES entered three teams into the London competition for the first time.
Their Elementary team did themselves proud in their first major tournament and came third. The star performer was Year 6 William Cobbett pupil Mostyn Burton who finished third in the separate individual competition while FHES Year 7 pupil Zakariya Baig narrowly missed out on the final.
The Middle School team missed out to eventual winners Trinity but claimed an excellent 50-point win against City of London School along the way, with Dan Pierce and Freddie Woodman impressing.
The Varsity team is revising hard ahead of their European challenge with a www.gofundme.com page being launched to get The Heath End History Buffs to Vienna.
The school hopes the public will rally behind them, like they did in helping the FHES team to Barcelona in 2023, especially as they’re putting Farnham on the map academically.
“It would be amazing to win it,” said Amelie, who added that she and her team-mates are “always revising”.
“As we’ve done so well in the last two competitions there’s no reason why we can’t do it again or even win it,” added Haydon.
“We can’t wait, said George, before highlighting the fundraising appeal.
He said: “We only got to Barcelona a couple of years ago because of the generosity of the public so we need some help again.”
The FHES team will compete against schools from across Europe, central Asia and the Middle East in the finals with the funds being used to cover flights, accommodation, entry fees, transport and meals.
