Volunteers from the Petersfield branch of an international charity, came together last week for their annual fundraising event.

Save the Children’s Big Sale at Churcher’s College, kicked off with a fashion show on February 17, featuring clothing in the sale and raised more than £12,000 for children worldwide.

Clothing was modelled by charity volunteers and the audience were wowed by the quality of what was on display, as they enjoyed a glass of wine, which was included in the ticket.

Speaking to The Petersfield Post, volunteer Jane Rebeiro, said: “The fashion show went absolutely brilliantly and there were a lot of sales afterwards and then the all day sales on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“It is always full on, much more work than just putting on a few pretty clothes and giving a fashion show. It is a very big sale, in order to raise as much money as possible for Save the Children.

“You always hope to raise more than the previous year and I think moving back into Petersfield has been good for us.”

The event has a become a vital source of funding for the charity, since starting off as a good-as-new clothing sale in 1963.

A spokesperson for the charity added: “Save the Children exists to feed the stomachs and minds of children in more than 100 countries. Not just in response to conflict and climate disasters in the short term, but sustainably, striving to keep children safe, healthy and learning.

“Here in the UK, the cost of living can push families beyond their means and Save the Children has projects supporting more than 2,400 families by providing early learning resources and food vouchers.

“Save the Children believes that every child deserves the best start in life.”

The Petersfield committee thanks everyone who attended and supported the Big Sale.
