It’s nearly time to place your bets and hope you’ve backed a winner, because Reggie’s Race Night will be held at Alton Football Club on January 25 at 7pm.

This event is the latest big fundraiser to help Regan Hitch - Reggie to his friends - who suffered an awful knee injury during a training session with Alton’s Sunday league side Alton Phoenix in November.

Regan’s team-mate Oliver Dickson immediately set up a GoFundMe page, Help Reggie Rebuild His Life, which has so far raised £5,075 towards his rehabilitation.

For race night tickets, priced £10 including food, call 07366 387975 or visit https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/alton-football-club/regan-s-race-night-auction/2025-01-24/19:00/t-moppxlv

Oliver said: “It promises to be an emotional and inspiring evening as we come together to support Reggie and celebrate the incredible progress he’s made on his journey to recovery.

“I cannot emphasise enough the importance of the night and the community’s role in making it happen.

“It will showcase Reggie’s inspiring story but also shine a light on the local community's support and generosity. I truly believe the night will be something special.”

As well as horse racing fun, there will also be an auction for lots including a European weekend break for two, spa treatments, a golf day, two ringside seats for a boxing event at The O2 Indigo on March 22, and a gliding experience.

Tree surgeon Regan snapped three ligaments in his right knee in a freak off the ball collision with another player, leaving him unable to work.

While his surgery costs are covered by the NHS, rehabilitation is crucial to help him regain his peak mobility. Funds raised will also help with living costs and ongoing medical expenses.
