Tree felling around the BOSC sports ground in Bordon to make way for houses is to continue to the end of February.
Residents have spoken of their dismay at the work being done and one said: “I was horrified to see the amount of felling. I was there on Christmas Eve before it began and when I went back it was to all that devastation. It must be hugely disruptive to the wildlife.”
The Whitehill & Bordon Regeneration Company and Brics developers are behind the scheme to build up to 350 houses on the land.
In a statement, the WBRC said: “We prepared an ecological mitigation, compensation and enhancement strategy to avoid any adverse impacts on existing biodiversity.
“This was undertaken in consultation with the council and Natural England.”
