Police investigating a string of burglaries around Mid and East Hampshire have arrested a man.

The 27-year-old from Suffolk is the third person to be arrested in connection with burglaries in Kings Worthy, Winchester, Basingstoke and Alton between January 21 and 27.

The Alton incident took place on January 23 when jewellery and gold were stolen from a house on Harp Avenue between 5.30pm and 7pm.

The suspect from Red Lodge, near Newmarket, was arrested on February 14 on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a burglary with intent to steal. He has been bailed with conditions, pending further enquiries.

Two suspects from Northamptonshire and Northern Ireland who were arrested on January 27 have also been bailed with conditions, pending further enquiries.
