AN ASTONISHED Haslemere Rotary Santa thought a druid had appeared in advance of the winter solstice last Saturday.

Haslemere Rotary has hosted its Santa Sleigh in Charter Walk, near to Oliver’s Coffee Shop, every Saturday so far this month.

Lots of children have visited and given Santa lovely smiles. The sleigh will also be in Charter Walk tomorrow (Christmas Eve), which is the last outing this year.

Oliver, who runs the coffee shop, has installed a snow machine to give that additional ambience.

The man in the tattered coat made a surprise visit to the sleigh. He is Kevin Murphy of the Haslemere Mummers. This group has been active in Haslemere for decades, and is well known for its Morris Men dancing.
