Members of the Alton and Farnham Slimming World groups have donated almost 100 bags of clothing to the Alton Cancer Research UK shop.
The clothes are worth an average of £25 per bag to Cancer Research UK, and Miyako Kamamoto from the Alton Cancer Research UK shop was “delighted” to receive the donations on May 1.
They were the result of the Big Slimming World Clothes Throw, which ran from April 16 to 29 and encouraged Slimming World members to donate clothes they had slimmed out of to their local Cancer Research UK shop. Slimming World has supported Cancer Research UK since 2013 and raised more than £18 million.
Macala Cooper, a Slimming World consultant who runs Alton and Farnham groups, was “so very proud” of her members.
She said: “For Slimming World members this campaign is not just about clothes and raising money for a hugely worthwhile cause that is close to so many of our hearts.
"These donations are an opportunity for members to let go of their past, to commit to their healthy new habits and never look back.”
