St Mary’s Bentworth CE Primary School marked the retirement of its local authority governor Jean Cornelius after more than 25 years during its Achievement Assembly on July 20.

Chair of governors Maria Fordyce said: “Jean, always thinking of others, has ensured our new local authority governor has been fully briefed to take on the role.”

Mrs Cornelius oversaw the pupil council elections and was involved in projects to add two classrooms, extend and refurbish the hall, install two outdoor play equipment trails and add external lighting to the school buildings.
