The Rowledge Volunteers launched their first event for residents with a festive afternoon tea in the village hall, kicking off its ‘Four Seasons’ events calendar.
More than 70 revellers were invited to come together for the ‘Festive Jingle’ to enjoy a warm drink, mince pies and other treats.
It was the brainchild of five local residents – Nora Tarrant, Tim Corry, Jan Clark, Mandy Main and Richard Banes-Walker – who all wanted to help bring locals together and socialise so decided to run four events throughout the year with the Festive Jingle being the first.
Mandy said: “It was brilliant to see so many people enjoying each other’s company, but we’d love to see more people of all ages and backgrounds at further events.”
She also thanked all the helpers on the day, adding: “There’s already a further event planned for the period between Christmas and New Year to encourage people to visit the village and stretch their legs whilst looking for our newest residents, so keep your eyes peeled for that one!”
Fundraising started in early November, entering a Guy into Farnham Round Table’s Firework night competition to receive a donation.
Farnham Lions allocated a funding grant to the project team and the Rowledge Village Hall committee threw their support behind it too.
