A potentially life-saving event is being held at Alton Community Centre this weekend for men aged 40 to 80.

The Alton Lions have teamed up with local Prostate Cancer Support Organisation PCaSo to hold a PSA Blood Test Event on Saturday, September 21.

They and doctors recommend that every man over 50, or over 40 if there is a family history of prostate cancer, knows their PSA.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed form of the disease in England and claims a life every hour in the UK.

But it’s highly curable with early diagnosis and treatment, so having a simple test could be the matter of life or death.

The event from 10am to 2.30pm is by appointment only with a small blood sample being taken from a vein in the arm.

Participants will be informed of the result five to ten days later, book an appointment through www.psatesting.org/psa-testing.
