The theme of Cardiac Rehab’s forthcoming annual fundraising lecture is the Post Office’s Horizon computer scandal, from the perspective of the forensic accountants who investigated it.
It will be held at the Alton Maltings Centre on November 26, with a wine and canapés reception at 7pm before the lecture at 8pm.
Cardiac Rehab chief executive Sarah Quarterman said: “We feel sure our annual lecture will be of great interest, especially with the Post Office Horizon IT inquiry entering its closing stages this autumn.
“Our keynote speaker, Kay Linnell, is a chartered accountant and certified fraud examiner, practising as a forensic accountant and adviser to the Justice for Sub-Postmasters Alliance.
“She gave further evidence on the wrongful convictions of sub-postmasters to the inquiry, and together with her business partner, Barbara Jeremiah, Miss Linnell will give us a unique insight into the investigation.”
Kay Linnell was immortalised in ITV’s smash hit drama series Mr Bates vs The Post Office, broadcast in January.
A fellow of the Expert Witness Institute and vice-chair of its board of governors, she continues to fight for justice for those affected by the Horizon scandal, along with Barbara Jeremiah, with whom she will give this lecture.
Miss Linnell has a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Sheffield and a PhD from the University of Portsmouth, with her thesis on ‘Why businesses do not protect themselves against fraud and attitudes to fraud’.
Tickets, priced £27.50, are available from Cardiac Rehab’s online shop at https://cardiac-rehab.co.uk/contact-us/
