An informal open day for potential adult volunteers is being held at Jane Austen’s House in Chawton on November 12 from 2pm to 4pm.

Visitors can enjoy refreshments and explore the house while chatting to current volunteers and staff.

They can learn more about what makes volunteering at Jane Austen’s House so special and the variety of opportunities and experiences open to them.

Devoted volunteers support activities across the site, from greeting visitors and sharing fascinating stories to conservation cleaning and helping at events, and are an integral part of the team at Jane Austen’s House.

A spokesperson said: “Whether you want to share your love of Jane Austen, learn more about working in museums and heritage, or help out with a spot of gardening, there’s something for everyone.”
