A bubble tea cafe in Farnham has been slapped with a one-star food hygiene rating and told “major improvement is necessary”.
Devotea, which opened in East Street earlier this year, was given the second lowest possible rating by Waverley Borough Council after a visit by inspectors on May 25.
The council raised a number of issues including bad hand-washing practices, and labels for food packaging being stored in the toilet.
Out-of-date “not fit to eat” strawberries were found in a fridge, the cafe was ticked off for storing boxes containing food on the floor, and the food hygiene awareness of staff was found to be “inadequate”.
A Devotea spokesperson said they had since fixed the issues raised in the report.
