Single mother of two Carol Shearman from Alton is going to run the Race For Life in Basingstoke in May after losing three stone with Slimming World.
Carol said: “Before I lost weight, I was feeling very down and depressed. As a single mum I was physically unable to run around after my two children or do anything physically active with them. I constantly made excuses with my friends when they wanted to meet up, as I had no self-confidence.
“I really wanted to get my children out for country walks, play rounders and be an outdoors family. I realised as much as I loved my children and everything I did with them, I wanted to be out with friends and meeting new people.”
The turning point for Carol was being unable to run in her daughter’s first sports day at school. She joined Slimming World, lost 4lb in the first week and felt “amazing”. She said: “My group and consultant have helped me endlessly, they have been encouraging and supportive. I couldn’t have done it without them.”
Carol’s consultant said: “We are all so proud of Carol. She has grown in confidence and has so much more energy. She has completed some 5km charity runs and is doing the Race For Life this year.
“She is now joining our team as a Slimming World consultant, and I wish her every happiness and success.”
