A FORUM that could prevent Meon Valley residents from becoming victims of frauds and scams will be held tomorrow.
Flick Drummond MP will head a panel of experts including deputy police and crime commissioner, Terry Norton, at the Meonstoke event.
Representatives from the police’s fraud squad, Citizens Advice Bureau and a bank will also give advice from 5pm to 7pm in Meon Hall.
“Fraud and scams are a huge problem as more and more people use the internet for banking and purchases,” said the MP for the Meon Valley.
“People in the UK lost £1.2bn to fraud in 2022 and that is the equivalent of £2,300 every minute but that figure is likely to be the tip of the iceberg.
“There are more conventional scams out there, too, with people skill knocking on doors asking for charity donations, so the threats are everywhere.
“I hope this forum will shed light on what people can do to avoid becoming a victim. There will be tips and advice to be safer online and I hope people will register to come.”
