VOLUNTEERS can make hay while the sun shines – fingers crossed – at the Adhurst Allotments Community Orchard this Sunday.
Extra hands will be welcome as a working party will rake up hay in the orchard from 10am. The two-hour Hay Day event will include a demonstration on scything and will be followed by a picnic in the community garden.
Some equipment will be available but volunteers have been encouraged to wear strong gloves, sturdy footwear, long trousers and sleeves.
Participants are also encouraged to bring rakes, pitchforks, secateurs, wheelbarrows and tarpaulins, where possible.
Organisers will also provide information on how to make a wild meadow and there’s a further treat as Mr Whitehead’s Cider company has donated samples.
There will also be a nature hunt activity for children and the Petersfield Climate Action Network (PeCAN) will also have a stall showcasing their projects.
