A COUNCILLOR has claimed a minor victory in a battle to keep traffic moving around Whitehill, Bordon and Lindford.
The bad news for motorists is there is no ‘B’ road access to the latter from the A325 until March 31 as SSE have resumed work on Lindford Road.
But there is some good news, as the permit manager at Hampshire County Council has agreed to keep Mill Chase Road open while drainage work takes place.
The council will use temporary traffic lights until next Monday instead of imposing a full closure, allowing motorists to reach Lindford and the villages beyond via Headley Mill Ford.
Cllr Andy Tree told HCC it “would not be acceptable” for both roads to be closed at the same time with the council also agreeing to release a list of planned roadworks for the coming weeks.
Washford Lane will be closed until January 26 to allow drainage improvement work to continue at the Mill Chase site with access being allowed for residents.
Whitehill Town Council is keen for drainage around the recreation ground – often called ‘Bordon Lido’ in wet spells – to be completed as quickly as possible so Wey Valley Juniors can return to their home pitches.
Temporary lights will also be in operation on Louisburg Avenue until Sunday with nocturnal work taking place on Camp Road next Monday and Tuesday.
Motorists can also expect overnight temporary lights at the Greatham end of Petersfield Road today and tomorrow from 8pm to 6am on both days.
