The Friends of Treloar’s are offering people the chance to pick up some top tips for caring for their garden while also raising money to help the students of Treloar School and College in Holybourne.

They have arranged for award-winning gardener and Royal Horticultural Society mentor Iris Lynch, a fellow of the Linnean Society and a member of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture, to host an evening talk in aid of Treloar’s.

This exciting event, a special evening of expert gardening advice, will take place in Froyle Village Hall on February 19. It will begin at 6.30pm and finish by 8pm.

With an impressive career that includes membership of the Professional Gardeners’ Guild - she is currently the secretary - and work as an assessor for the Royal Horticultural Society Green Plan It Challenge, Iris is set to share her expertise on the theme of Best use of space for growing vegetables.

For more than 45 years the Professional Gardeners' Guild has existed to help professional gardeners employed in private gardens and estates. It aims to promote professional contact, share information and skills, and provide the horticultural industry with skilled gardeners and garden managers.

Attendees can look forward to practical tips for vegetable gardening in any space, a question and answer session - people should submit their questions when booking - a raffle offering a chance to win a fantastic prize, and complimentary drinks and nibbles included in the ticket price.

Proceeds will support Treloar’s work to empower young people with complex physical disabilities. A spokesperson said: “Spaces are limited, so book your ticket today and enjoy an evening of inspiration and community spirit.”

Froyle Village Hall is in Ryebridge Lane, Lower Froyle. For tickets, priced £15, or more information visit https://www.treloar.org.uk/events/best-use-space-growing-vegetables or email [email protected]
