Staff at a coffee shop and roastery in Bordon have savoured their progress after tasting double success in a prestigious food and drink accreditation scheme.
Acorns Coffee and Cake have received a latte love since their Colombia Finca Sofia and El Salvador Diamante beans both won two stars at the 2024 Great Taste Awards.
Less than half the total 13,672 products submitted were given a star rating by a Guild of Fine Food expert panel while just 1,386 got the two-star ‘above and beyond delicious’ grading.
But two of those went to the beans roasted in The Shed – not bad for a firm which was trading from a horsebox from a street corner just three years ago.
The accolade has been called a “huge moment and milestone” by the team with their “incredible roaster” Matt being rightly hailed for producing two fantastic and award-winning products.
They’ve also express thanks to supporters and their loyal customers while their founder, Dayne Cartwright, claimed the double success was a validation for all their hard work and determination.
He said: “We have dreamt of this moment and are so proud to be adding the prestigious black and gold Great Taste badge of honour to our products.
“Great Taste is the most recognised accolade for taste and quality in the food and drink industry, so it’s a huge moment for us.
“We are so proud of the team who can make this happen and a special thanks to the passionate and amazing Matt, our head roaster.”
