AN INSPIRATIONAL fundraiser is passing through Petersfield and East Hampshire today on a 500-mile mission to spread some Christmas happiness in his native North West.
Henry Moores is walking from Macclesfield to Paris to raise money for food, gifts and support for less-fortunate people and groups around the Cheshire area.
The 21-year-old – who has already raised more than £12,000 of his £15,000 target – will attempt to walk to Portsmouth today after stopping in the West Meon area last night.
Word of his fundraising walk is spreading fast with market traders and Free Shop Petersfield among businesses offering food to Henry, who hopes to complete the trek in 23 days.
He was inspired to get fundraising after having an epiphany while spending three weeks abroad with a friend.
He said: “Whilst on the trip I felt a sense of unfulfillment and a desire to do something out of the ordinary.
“This gave me the idea to try and spread happiness on Christmas Day to those who may be unable to celebrate with others, who cannot afford gifts, and cannot afford a Christmas meal.”
