A MONTH of mayhem on Farnham’s roads may finally come to an end later this week with a lane of the A31 Farnham Bypass set to re-open ahead of schedule.

Brightwells developer Crest Nicholson closed an eastbound lane of the bypass between Red Lion Lane and the Shepherd and Flock roundabout on January 8 for the construction of a temporary bridge linking its construction site to the A31.

This was set to be in place for six weeks - potentially taking the works up to February 19.

However, the Herald understands the highways works have now been completed, meaning the lane can soon reopen subject to the results of a road safety audit set to be undertaken later this week.

Once the bridge is in place, the next phase of the Brightwells redevelopment will be to start demolition works – with the Redgrave Theatre one of the first to go.
