Haslemere Quilters held a successful quilt show at the Methodist Church on Lion Green.
Haslemere mayor Cllr Jacquie Keen and town crier Christian Ashdown opened the show, and more than 150 people came to view the quilts. Many smaller items were sold, and there was a tombola. All proceeds from the raffle will go to Holy Cross Hospital. A table was provided by Fiona from Pins and Needles in Grayshott, which added to the variety of items. There was also a children’s competition on both days.
Haslemere Quilters chairman Aileen Assender said: “It has taken a year to prepare for the quilt show and I am indebted to the ladies of the group for all their hard work and commitment they have given to making the show such a success. Comments from people who came to see the quilts and other pieces of work have been very positive and it is rewarding for us to know how much talent we have in the group.
“It was a relaxing and friendly atmosphere throughout both days, made even better by the wonderful service ladies from the Methodist Church gave in serving tea, coffee and cake to helpers and members of the public alike. Our grateful thanks go to them and also to the Methodist Church for enabling us to hold our quilt show in their wonderful surroundings.”
