The Mayor of Haslemere, Councillor Jacquie Keen, raised the Ukrainian flag for Ukraine’s Independence Day.

Ukraine’s Independence Day on August 24 was exactly six months since Russia’s invasion and 31 years since the nation declared independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.

There is a wide range of support available for Ukrainian guests and host families through local community and voluntary groups.

Haslemere Town Council support services officer Jo Cork said: “We continue to support all our Ukrainian friends during this difficult time.”
