ST Lawrence Primary School is said to be “delighted” with an Ofsted report which confirms that it continues to be a “good” school with “many very positive features”.

According to headteacher Dawn Casson, the staff and children have “worked hard” to ensure the school remains a “very good school” and were thrilled with the report.

She said: “The school is passionate about its caring ethos with values of love, respect and compassion.”

In their report, the inspectors noted: “Both the staff and parents refer to the school as being ‘a family’.”

One parent was quoted as saying: “There is such a strong family feel where the school value of love is clear and underpins so much of what they do.”

The report noted how the school had high expectations and was complimentary about the work ethic that all children demonstrate.

“You have created an ethos of high expectations supported by a ‘can-do’ attitude. Due to your passion for developing a resilient mindset, pupils understand that learning is a process they have to work at,” it read.

The whole school continually self-evaluates and looks for ways to improve still further, another factor noted in the report. “You are highly focused on improving the school still further and are very clear about your next steps to make the school outstanding.”

The school has expressed grateful thanks to the governors, staff, parents and “most importantly” the children “for making St Lawrence such an amazing place to be part of”.
