CHILDREN at Binsted Primary School have been busy joining in the preparations for Binsted Church’s Flower Festival.
Over the past few weeks, the children, aided by their teacher Hazel Cantoni, have been planning and making huge art panels to being included in the festival taking place at the Church of the Holy Cross in the village from October 2-4.
The theme of the event is Harvest Time, so children have been studying their local area and getting inspiration from the landscape that surrounds them. The flower festival has been planned by members of the community to raise funds to maintain the fabric of the church.
As the theme suggests, the flower arrangers have been drawing inspiration from the harvest that has been taking place in the farmland that surrounds Alton and Binsted.
In support of the festival the owner of Wheatley House will be opening her gardens, (details of which will be available at the church).
An orchestral and choral concert is being held in the church at 7.30pm on October 3. Tickets, priced £10 from Nick Carter on 01420 472861.
The Wickham Institute (Binsted Village Hall) will be open for light refreshments and home-baked cakes on all three days.
Entry for the festival is £4 per person, children aged under 14 free.
