MORE than 400 visitors were dazzled by the floral splendour of the ’Harvest Time’ flower festival in Binsted at the village’s Holy Cross Church over the weekend.
“There was a popular children’s treasure hunt, which entertained the younger generations, while a visiting bell-ringing group rang the church bells which could be heard pealing across the valley early on Saturday evening.
“Then there was a glorious orchestral and choral concert, run by Nick and Rose Carter, in among the flowers which enhanced the atmosphere of a splendid Saturday night. The voices of the choir from Binsted Primary School rang out loud and clear alongside the beautiful opera singing, cello, flute and piano, played by several talented young musicians - including locally supported Naomi McLean from London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama, who were all much appreciated.”
Wheatley House gardens were opened alongside the event and the Wickham Institute opened its doors to supply much-needed refreshment to the visitors with teas and homemade cakes.
Organisers Pam Smout and Sam Barrow thanked everybody who helped make this event “a huge success”.
