THANKS to donations from retired governor Caroline Scott, children at Selborne Primary School enjoyed the 24 days of Advent during December, opening a book a day.
The book Advent calendar has both excited pupils and stimulated their reading, with children enjoying traditional classics alongside new, contemporary titles.
Headteacher Claire Murphy said the children are now “looking forward to coming back to school in January to devour the books”.
“Reading at Selborne is highly valued in addition to maths and writing as well as the wider curriculum,” she added.
