WOOTEY Junior School is celebrating after receiving a ‘Good’ Ofsted report.
Having visited the school in March, the Ofsted inspector found that the school’s work in nurturing children was impressive.
His report read: “The care and commitment demonstrated by the teaching and support staff are second to none.”
Teaching was praised as being well planned with feedback to children tailored to meet individual needs.
Children at the school were also commended for behaving well in lessons and in the playground and for “demonstrating care for each other”.
According to headteacher Tim O’Brien, these are “exciting times” at Wootey Junior School as it has recently been announced that the Education Funding Agency has agreed to fund £2.27m of improvements to the school’s buildings. The works will include a new roof and a complete recladding of the exterior of the school.
Inside the school, there will be a number of internal redecoration improvements and new toilets for the children.
In addition to this, the governing body is seeking to approve a small extension to the front of the school which will create a new staffroom, office space and nurture room for the children.
Mr O’Brien said: “The governors and I are very proud of this report from Ofsted. The school is extremely lucky to have such talented teachers and support staff. This report highlights their excellent work.”
And he added: “It is a great time to be at Wootey Juniors. We will shortly see major rebuilding works begin that will provide us with fantastic facilities to match the good work we do with the children.”
