Police are keen to speak to the driver of a white hatchback after an ambulance left the A339 between Alton and Basingstoke in a late-night incident last month.

An appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage has been launched following the incident at 11.15pm on Friday, September 20, on the Lasham section of the road.

The ambulance was on a blue light run when it left the carriageway close to the Spain Lane Burkham junction and landed on its side in a ditch.

No-one was injured and the vehicle was not transporting a patient but the accident caused a potentially life-threatening delay and an estimated £26,000 of damage.

The patient was seen by another South Central Ambulance Service crew while the vehicle involved in the crash will be out of commission for around a month.

Dashcam footage of the incident shows that a small white car – possibly a Ford Fiesta or Focus – was in the area at the time but did not stop at the scene.

“We are continuing to investigate a number of lines of enquiry to identify this vehicle and its driver, and are now issuing this dash cam footage as part of our appeal,” said a spokesperson for Hampshire Police.

“If you are this driver, or know who they are, please contact us.”

The spokesperson added: “We would also like to speak to anyone with relevant dash cam or CCTV footage.”

Witnesses or anyone with information about the incident should call 101 quoting reference number 44240405658 .
